Sunday is undoubtably the best day of the week. Not only can you get out of bed way past your usual waking time, but you can actually combine breakfast and lunch into one supersized brunch bonanza! These festivities are best spent with the entire family, so Holiday Inn & Suites Makati makes Sundays truly more special this May as they partner with one of the best breakfast restaurants in the city to offer a brunch buffet like no other.

Holiday Inn & Suites Makati features Rustic Mornings at Flavors Restaurant all Sundays of May with guest Chef Portia Baluyut bringing her breakfast favorites and delightfully tasteful comfort food along with the hotel’s brunch buffet. Chef Portia is the second guest chef at Flavors Restaurant, following Pampanga’s famed chef Dennis Lim (Read: Chef Den Lim Takes Over Flavors Restaurant at Holiday Inn Makati), so fans of this popular Marikina restaurant, as well as foodies who have yet to try it, can now experience Chef Portia’s delicious home-style cooking at a more accessible location.

Sunday Brunch is served at Flavors Restaurant from 11:30am to 2:30pm for only P1900 nett per person. Flavors prides itself in having one of the best buffet selections in Makati, with a curated selection of Filipino, South East Asian, and Western dishes. This May, guests can enjoy Rustic Mornings’ hearty selection of all-day breakfast favorites together with the hotel’s outstanding buffet dishes.

Rustic Mornings by Isabello is Marikina’s hidden gem, which was started by advertising executive turned chef and restaurateur Portia Baluyut in 2009 as Isabelo Garden Restaurant, a by-reservation only restaurant. With no formal culinary training but a lifelong love for food and the creative process, Portia evolved her restaurant into Rustic Mornings in 2012. Serving hearty and delicious all-day breakfast in the heart of Marikina, Rustic Morning has been named as the top breakfast place in the metro for the last four years by Spot.ph

Brunch gives everyone the perfect excuse to have breakfast and dessert BEFORE the main course. I started my brunch buffet with Chef Portia’s newest baby, the Waffable Waffle Bar, which gets its own station at Flavors.

Diners can design their own waffable from the ingredients on the waffle bar. Simply choose your waffle, toppings, syrups and be as creative as you want.

Start with the award-winning Classic Waffable and top it off with bananas, apples, blueberry compote, and butter cream. You can also try the bestselling Churro Waffable and sprinkle some chocolate bits together with apples, blueberries and chocolate syrup. Other waffable variants you can design include the Brownie Brittle with brownie waffle, butter cream and yema fudge, or the Blueberry Burst with a classic waffle, butter cream, blueberry compote and monkey butter.

Joining Flavors’ choice brunch offerings are Rustic Morning’s Buttermilk Pancakes with special butter cream and its very own classic syrup, topped with a choice of fresh mangoes, banana slices, strawberry cubes, blueberry compote and chocolate chips.

Kids and adults can let their imagination run wild at the Sunday brunch of Flavors restaurant so there’s no limit to how many you can have.

Aside from the waffles and pancakes, the buffet also features other breakfast favorites you can find at Rustic Mornings.

These include Open-faced Toasties at the toast bar as well as very juicy sausages.

One of my favorite items at the brunch buffet was the endless servings of bacon at the Bacon Bar. These are some of the best slices of bacon I have ever eaten and since everything at Rustic Mornings is homemade, each dish is really unique and prepared with love and care.

They said that the bacon at Rustic Mornings are also served the same way - inside a big jug, so I am also looking forward to having these soon at the original restaurant.

They also serve a different kind of Hash Browns which are bigger, crunchier, and more flaky than the regular ones we usually have.

Rustic Mornings is also taking over the omelet station, with Chef Portia’s open faced omelettes being featured. Diners can order the Country Omelet with potatoes, bacon and green bell pepper; the All Veggie Omelet with zucchini, mushrooms, spinach, and tomatoes; and the Meat Lovers Omelet with bacon, sausage and garlic.

The French Toast Bake with berry cream is a one-of-a-kind dish that can be a great appetizer or filling dessert. Fortunately, it doesn’t matter what order you have it because it’s a Sunday!

Here are some healthier options on the table, the Smoothie Bowls. You can choose from the Acai Bowl and the Apple Smoothie Oat.

Another creative brunch highlight is the Pinoy Burrito. This is made of parslied garlic rice with tinapa flakes wrapped in a lumpia wrapper, then deep fried with cream sauce.

One item that should not be missed is the creamy Curry Kofta Balls. These are like a combination of curry and pinoy kaldereta flavors in one dish. Eat it with some rice for a complete dining experience.

For the month of May, diners at Flavors Restaurant can enjoy their Sunday brunch with complimentary sparkling, white and red wine from Philippine Wine Merchants. I had a few glasses of Mimosa to make my Sunday brunch extra special. Don’t worry though, because they are also offering unlimited Mock Mosa for those who prefer the non-alcoholic version.

Sunday is family day so children will also have a splendid time at Holiday Inn Makati with the many kiddie activities. Aside from Marshmallow Sculpting, they can even make their own Slime!

Don’t forget that there are many other sections diners can explore at Flavors Restaurant. The Japanese sections offers fresh sashimi, sushi, and rolls.

Other main dishes are also available including chicken adobo, dinuguan, kare kare, pizza, noodles, soup, salads, and more.

The Seafood Station is another highlight of the buffet where diners can have endless prawns, mussels, shells, and crabs cooked according to their liking.

But the main attraction is definitely at the Carving Station which features the Flavors Lechon and U.S. Angus Beef Ribeye. Ask the server for a few slices of steak and have it seared on the grill.

After all those sweet and savory dishes, there is still the Dessert Station of Flavors to complete this delightful Sunday brunch buffet. Go for their signature Crepe Samurai and the Ube Cheesecake together with my favorite chocolate mousse.

Chef Portia will be at Flavors Restaurant all Sundays of May to personally supervise and join this festive brunch buffet. This is best time to try these breakfast favorites from Rustic Mornings, and best of all, you can get as many as you want. So cross out your Sundays and gather the entire family for this limited-time brunch affair.
